Top JI man, Mas Selamat, escapes......

SINGAPORE : A massive police operation is underway in Singapore after the leader of the Jemaah Islamiyah network here, Mas Selamat Kastari, escaped from detention at 4.05pm on Wednesday.

A statement from the Home Affairs Ministry says Mas Selamat walks with a limp and is presently at large.

He is not known to be armed and is one of Singapore’s most wanted men.

Extensive police resources have been deployed to track him down after he escaped from the Whitley Road Detention Centre.

Anyone with information about him can contact the police at 999.

Mas Selamat was arrested by the Indonesian police on Bintan island in January 2006.

He was picked up then for using a fake identity card.

Based on investigations then, Indonesia’s elite anti—terror police discovered he was the leader of the Singapore Jemaah Islamiyah network, a terrorist organisation.

They then deported the man to Singapore in 2006.

The 45—year—old father of four was also said to be involved in JI’s plans to mount attacks against foreign and local establishments here.

These included the US Embassy and American Club, the Defence Ministry headquarters at Bukit Gombak and the Education Ministry building at North Buona Vista Drive.

Mas Selamat fled Singapore in December 2001 following an Internal Security Department operation against the terrorist organisation.

The militant leader had been on the run after Singapore authorities discovered plans to crash seven truck filled with bombs at various locations around the island.

Investigations also revealed that he was the mastermind behind a plan to hijack an airplane and crash it into Changi airport.

When he was last arrested in Indonesia, officers found literature on bomb making on the man.

Mas Selamat’s deportation to Singapore two years ago was seen as a significant development in the close network of cooperation amongst intelligence officers in the region to share information on terror suspects and to defeat the terror threat.

The islandwide manhunt has fanned out to areas in Beauty World in Upper Bukit Timah and Goldhill Avenue near Barker Road.

Officers are also knocking on homes asking residents if they have seen the escapee.

Police have also formed a formidable blockade around Malcolm Park, near the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School. — CNA/ch

How did a top wanted man managed to escape ? Thats the question I wanna know the answer of, so does many concerned Singaporeans and foreigners alike.

Mr Wong Kan Seng, our Home Affairs Minister can only say a simple "I am Sorry" with regards to this "security lapse". Mas Selamat, head of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist network here, gave his guards the slip while he was being taken to the toilet at the Whitley Detention Centre, which is near SCGS.

Surfing around the web, was quite fruitful.
TODAY's checks suggested that many Singaporeans were more curious about the escape itself.
As Mr K C Cheriyan, director of a childcare centre at Goldhill Avenue and a former military man, said: "How do you escape from such a facility? How is it possible?"

Other questions that have cropped up: Was Mas Selamat acting alone? Why was he not restrained with handcuffs or electronic tags? Shouldn't there have been fail-safe measures in the first place? Would his escape lead to greater security threats here?

As a current military man, I understand the importance of security. At the same time, I do understand what it means when it is too late for apologies.

The security screwed up big time this time around, and I feel it is too late for sorry(s).
This is a big dent in the people's trust in the nation's security forces.

The escape of Mas Selamat can end in disastrous results, and hopefully, things will not turn out that way.

Disappointing.......

Thy Kingdom Come

Our Father, which art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done,
In earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

2nd accident in a matter of a week... The dreaded period of bad luck continues...

Handphone spoilt - $203 - TICKED
Canister filter spoilt - $20 - TICKED
Helmet stolen - $40 - TICKED
Lost in MJ - $300 - TICKED
Accident 1 - $300 - TICKED
Accident 2 - $79 (pending repairs to bike) - TICKED

Everyone say riding a cub is safer than riding a scram...
I ride a scram for 2 years, and i barely encountered any accidents....
I had this cub for 1/2 year max, and I got into 2 accidents, the piston seized, I did an overhaul, the owner never pay installment, bike got towed back...
The owner told me the bike is "suay" , I don't believe...
SEE WHAT HAPPEN NOW....
Even my mum also ask me to sell the bike away.... She too said after I bought the bike, my luck seems rather down...

Anyway back to the accident...

The first accident was rather ok, just monetary loss and damage to the bike.

The 2nd accident was ok monetary wise... My bike escaped unscathed, my helmet barely scratched, even the fishes that were transported on my bike survived, i took the main blow of it all....
Should I say that my bad luck took away all the "sufferings" of my bike, helmet and fishes ? ha....

Look what happened to my foot.... wounds and swelling...

and my knee

and there's still my thigh and my elbow and my palm... damn it... some kinda of luck ye ?
I remembered I heard this myth from someone before that before the lunar new year starts, the roaming spirits will look for the living ones to be the scape goat and take their place... wonder how true this is... but somehow this string of unfortunate events is starting to make me more superstitious... damn...

so much so that i am contemplating whether to buy Pi Xiu a not...

What's a Pixiu ?

Introduction to the Pi Xiu 貔貅

In the olden days, Pi Xiu (貔貅) was devoted as guardian of the palaces (镇中土) and homes of high officials because of its ability to drive away evil and bring good luck. It was also used as a symbol to boost the morale and fighting spirits of the soldiers during the warring states. It is very loyal and obedient in nature that is known to protect its master with their lives.

The Usefulness of a Pi Xiu (貔貅):

1. Once you own a Pi Xiu (貔貅), it will protect you with its life because you are his owner. It is a very powerful fortune and wealth enhancer because it can summon fortune and find helpful person for their master.
2. It generates good Feng Shui and can guard your house and family members from evil spirits or catastrophe and also ensures good health to everyone in the house.
3. It will also ward off evil and wicked people who intend to harm you or your family. It also helps you through obstacles and hard times in life.
4. It is a symbol of authority and power, thus you will enjoy the same status and influence when you place it at an auspicious position on your office desk.
5. It does not have an anus, so whatever good fortune that it absorbs in will be trapped in the stomach for your use. None of the good fortune will be lost once it is into its stomach.
6. It not only please the Grand Duke of Jupiter/Tai Sui (太岁) but also help you to ward off those Sha Qi moving around in the yearly Flying Star Chart – 九官飞星

but it aint cheap... cheapest for a 7 inch one is $388.... up to $3888... and you still need a fengshui master to help you place it... damn... should I ? LOL....
