Never knew that she was suffering from breast cancer all these while.

Awhile ago, I was still thinking, why no news from her all these while.
After all, her songs are nice, and can touch people's heart.

I hope she will rest in peace.
Read abit about her life and actually, she had quite a hard life... So it's been quite tiring for her, finally she can take a long rest now.

Was searching the net for some info bout her, and guess what?

Her birth date is the exact same day as mine! Talking bout coincidence...

Fake Degrees ? But for what ?

Checking my email . . . . . . . . . .

Ok, I got a tons of spams! Let's see what they are about

- Cheap Phetermine / Viagra
- Debts / Getting a loan
- Free casino credit
- Pron / Hot sex with brunette
- Low Education? Don't Worry, now You can BUY(No study/exam) Yourself University Dip1oma/Degree

Now did you see what I see ?

Diploma/Degree??

That
looks pretty encouraging, doesn't it ?
Seldom are there any spams that "spams" you to upgrade your qualification and prepare for the tough cruches ahead~

Ok let's click~

Now you can Buy Degree, Bacheelor, MasteerMBA, PhDD at L0W price!

Give us a call For more inquiry

No Exams/Books/Interview/Tests/Classes
100% No Pre-School qualification Required!

Bacheelor, Degree, MasteerMBA, PhDD available in the Field of your choice so you can Even become a doctor and receive all the benefits That comes with it!

So you think after you gave them a call and you bought your Degree, Bachelor, Masters, Phd, that's it ? Full-Stop and Happily-ever-after ?

Nah you are thinking rather too optimistically!

When you apply for your job, your prospective employer will take a look at your resume, certifications, transcripts and some will even RANDOMLY give your "school" a call to verify that you actually graduated from there.

And what if you were randomly chosen in this "call-a-school" spot check ? You will be arrested by the police (if they make a report) and you will spend a good amount of time in the jail, not too bad a place, considering the free lodging and food.

Ok sarcastism aside.

Are these fake qualifications worth it ? As a risk-adverse person, I prefer to stay away from it. You can't take the consequences in Singapore. Let's say you are caught 1 time with it, the record alone will ruin your whole future here.

To me, certification is the end result. The intake of the knowledges imparted is more valuable than the cert itself. Just imagine you got this fake Phd in Medicine and you decided to be a DOCTOR! Instead of curing people, you kill people. When your patients ask you about a certain medicine, you go "Huh?" O.O

Imagine the consqeuences, can you live with all the guilt ?

I believed in "Reaping what you sowed".
I believed that by putting in hardwork, I will get what I wanted, and I deserved to get it.
I believed.

Fake Qualifications ? Sorry.
I don't believe.

The Days, 歲月

The Days

What's your childhood like ? Does it involved the following ?

- Long fringe, long side burn ? Gold/brown-coloured hair ?
- Rolled-up polo tee / t-shirt sleeves ? Jeans folded up as if Singapore is flooding ?
- The MCM / JPG long wallet, with a long comb, sharpen at the end at the back of your school pants ?
- You walk "Sa Pak Lak, Qi Pak Di" ? As if the whole world is owned by you ?
- You fought with someone over "starring" incidents ? "Kua si mi kua? Chap toh lok?"
- The tea dances at Fire / Canto ?
- The street fighter game ?

If your childhood involved the above that I had mentioned, then welcome to the club! =)

Welcome to the 1980s-1990s!

So besides these, whats "The Days" about ?
It's about 2 brothers, their "brothers" (meaning gang members / clique), and their rivals.

It's about one scene too many we had seen much too often.
A promising man mixed with the wrong company and end up ruining his future, his life.
You get the drift......

This story-line itself hit me hard.
As i personally had friends who fall into the exact scenario, and it saddens me... If only I could turn back time, how I wished I could make a difference to their life......

Following the movie, i was sort of brought back into time, reliving those times, the exact same scenes in the movies, the exact same happenings back then. (OK maybe not exact, but it was CLOSE!)

Like what the movie said, "这是我们的岁月!"

Of course there were some things that I would never had done if I can make a U-turn back in time, but since it's been done, I will treat it as a good lesson learnt. =)

It's a pretty good flim, by local standards, and I am happy to see such a flim being churned out by the local movie industry~

Acting by some new bloods were pretty good~

- Justin Chan (as Zi Long) - acted well for his role~ Never really noticed any awkwardness from his side! Plays the "pak kia"-turned-over-new-leaf  part well~

- Adele Wong (as Shan Shan) - Overall good acting (ok I admit my assessment was blurred by her looks! =X What to do, I got a thing for matured looking goody goody girl type what...), except for the "Porridge and knife" part, that was quite poorly handled, you can see the awkwardness in her...

- Adora Wong (as Valerie) - Real life sister of Adele Wong! Played the part of the Chao Ah Lian very very well~ either she's an ah lian or she did her homework to good effect~ If its the latter, it's a perfect example of "you reaped what you sowed!"

- Jeremy Levi Kho (as Jeremy) - I can tell his the funny bone in the whole cast~ the part he took up came almost as second nature to him. Played the chao ah beng boss-in-school quite well~ that's how most ah-beng-tao behaved last time anyway, but not all so funny la, usually quite lao lan, that's all~

- Derrick R (as Kau Kia) - I think hor, he belong to the Jay Zhou type la, talk later, 1 kind of expression through out the movie, act cool type. For the personality of his character, i would say he done well, though it might just had limited how much he had inside of him to the general audience.

I am still kinda amazed and can't get over the fact that Adele and Adora are real life sisters!

*shrugs*

Anyway, I support Local productions lah!

If Singaporeans don't support Singaporeans, who will support Singaporeans ?

"THE car ahead of you on an expressway brakes suddenly for no apparent reason. It causes a chain collision with your car and those behind you.

Within two minutes of the accident, a workshop agent appears and offers his repair services.

Are workshop touts staging accidents to get business?
"

(Full story at this link here)

From the reports, these are the various points I read about which I found to be suspiscious:

  1. Sudden braking by the car in front, for no apparent reason, especially when there's no traffic ahead of it.

  2. Prompt workshop agents who appear immediately at the scene of accident.
    (< 1 Min)

  3. Other 'victims' of the chain collision did not even bother to exchange particulars
(A standard procedure for motorists involved in accidents.)

  4. The workshop lent the victim a Toyota Camry, at no cost, while it repaired her car.
(Usually they will lend a car only if they know you, ie, its the workshop you frequent, but even so, it won't be a Camry, and definitely not for FREE)

  5. The workshop agent convinced the victim that taking down the vehicle numbers of the other two cars was sufficient and that there was no need to get the drivers' personal particulars.
(In Singapore, the standard procedure is to exchange personal details, take pics of the damaged area(s), so on and so forth)

  6. The agent even dissuaded the victim from speaking to the other two drivers.

  7. The workshop replaced the damaged parts and did some paint work.Total cost of repairs amounted to 'more than $10,000', and the workshop said it would claim the money from the insurer of the driver behind her.
(A check by the papers with five other workshops yielded estimates of between $2,000 and $5,000 for carrying out the same repairs.)
It does not take rocket science to determine the costs and profits ANY workshop will get to gain to "stage" such an accident.

Every single transaction will profit them by a margin of at least $8,000 (before subtracting away the "actors/actresses", repair costs for own "props", cost of spare parts/repair for the "targetted" vehicle, etc). To any businessman, this is definitely good money.

It was mentioned in the report, that the association gets around 2 complaints a month with regards to "staged accidents". For every 2 accidents complaint, I am sure there are more out there which aint reported.

Let's put it at a very forgiving hypothesis of 4 such accidents staged by the workshop each month.

4 x $8,000 = $32,000.

And not forgetting that the workshop have its own drive-in customers and regulars. This $32,000 alone is a very substantial amount, I would call it EXTRA MONEY.

Let's not talk about the ethical side of the matter, I am sure most (if not all), will agree that its NOT ETHICAL to do this.

It's just like bringing your cars/bikes to the workshop to repair, then the mechanic PURPOSELY forget to tighten a screw or two, and when the thing gets loose and then spoilt, you will have to go back to the workshop to repair it, then they start telling you that something somewhere is wrong again. The cycle goes on. They get "return business", but is it ETHICAL?

NO!

What worries me ain't the inethical way they are doing their business(es), but more to the way they were prepared to endanger the life of others just to earn more money.

This ain't inethical, this is INHUMANE.

For every accident staged, the lives of others are endangered.

Imagine this scenario, a high speed accident occured, in the car behind, there's an old lady, young children, pregnant mother-to-be.

Can you understand how many fragile and helpless life is at stake ?

I seriously hope this accidents are purely in the sense of the word - Accident, and not staged just to earn some dirty money.

What do you guys think ?

Do you think such staged accidents exist ?

The Will to Success. Or is it ?

| | Comments (10) | TrackBacks (0)
It's no secret to many friends of mine, that I am driven to be a successful person.

I can only measure success by materialistic means.

- To live in a big house
- Drive a stylish European Car
- Lives VERY comfortable (but not extravagantly)
- Hold a high position in an organisation or run a legal profitting company.

To me, this is SUCCESS mortalised.

Is this success driven by my own will to succeed ? Partly.

The other part of it, sadly, is by the lack of love....
Not the family kind, not the kind between friends, and definitely not the brotherly ones.
I have all these.
I am talking about the kind of sparkles between a male and a female.

By becoming successful, i know i will be able to indulge in a life of my own, enjoying other things in life (other than what a relationship might bring), and maybe forget the fact that the word "Love" had always elusively evaded me.

I always tell my friends, if you can't find this love, maybe you can spread the love, by sharing it with the less fortunate, make their life better, and in order to do that, you need cash! cold hard cash!

A friend of mine recently tell me, but without this love, won't your life be kinda incomplete ?

I hate to admit it, but I do and will be incomplete.

In life, love can't be force, either you got it, or you don't....
If I am meant to be, to not get it, may it not even come near me, i will be thankful. Really....

Consideration

In the cinema, right before the start of any movie, there will always be a running of this particular screening which reminds patrons of the cinema to switch their mobile phone to silent mode.

Still, halfway through the show, you can hear ring tones and sms tones....

In the meeting room and lecture halls, the same goes. On the projector screen, will be a powerpoint slide, reminding participants to switch their mobile phone to silent mode.

Still, halfway through the meetings / lectures, there will be ring tones and sms tones, and often, by a cruel twist of fate, they almost only occurs during the most silent segment of meetings / lectures....

So can you tell me ? Whats wrong with these people ?

To me, they are more than inconsiderate.
They are lazy for not acting according to what the reminder had stated.
They are selfish for impeding the learning/advancement of others.

Is this the problem with the society ? or just the invidual? Do ponder.

For now, I urged anyone reading this entry, that the next time the scenarios above happen to you, please, switch your handphones to silent mode, if not for yourself, do it for others....

The much awaited sequel to the original local blockbuster - Money No Enough 2!
This flim had been the most anticipated show in recent times~
Came across this in one of the local forums, and I can't help it but to share with you guys here!
It's pretty hilarious!

Wanted to blog about something else, related to what the vid is promoting too, but well that will have to wait till tomorrow....

Time to sleep, 3 more days before end of my external course...

Dreams, Vision, Action!

Dreams. Everyone have dream(s).
When you were young, I am sure you wanted to be a Scientist, a Teacher, a Policeman, a Fireman or someone else. You wanted to be someone, you have an ambition.

As you grew up, reality sets in, the distance between you and your dream, gets further and further apart.

At some point in your life, you realised,

"Hey! this aint what I want and/or where I wanna be!"

So you drew up a plan, a plan to do what you want in life, a plan that shows you clearly the steps which you gotta take in order to reach the objective. That's your vision of your future. You visualize your future.

We are humans. We are animals of habits. We hate to move from our comfort zone. We rather stay the way we are, in a familiar environment, then to take risk and move into the unknown.

We have a plan. However, our very own nature to procastinate, resulted in our reluntancy to make the first step forward, to act.

Until we decide to act, until we decide to take the very first step out, the dream will remain a dream, the vision will remain a vision. The dream will never become reality, so won't the vision.

"Vision without Action are merely Dreams.
Action without Vision is passing time.
Vision with Action can change your life."

Change your future, act now!
Make decisions which you will not regret.
If ever you met an option which might result in you having the possibility of feeling regretful, take that option, leave no regrets in life.

Be a Dreamer, as well as a Do-er.

You only live once.
Make that once, count!
